Campus Recreation
I am so excited about this new REC center! In September of last year, UNCG was named a winner of the 2015 Active Minds Healthy Campus Award, a national recognition given to the top five healthiest college campuses! The new Rec offers parking accessible to students and Alumni members, but it is so conveniently located. You can easily walk to it through our underpass beginning on Oakland and ending on Gate City Blvd. If you take the cross walk over Gate City Blvd, the new recreation center is near the intersection of West Lee Street and McCormick Street.
New additions and features include:
A 54-foot climbing wall
More than 20 climbing lanes
*compared to the current wall’s seven lanes
Independent bouldering wall
7 basketball courts
A mat room for combative arts
A roof patio for outdoor classes and events​
a fitness studio akin to a CrossFit gym
a games and table tennis area
a state-of-the-art natatorium and a multi-activity court w/ rubber flooring
students can play basketball, indoor soccer, dodgeball and floor hockey, among
other sports
