UNCG Guarantee Cohort Captain Program
In order to properly provide the necessary support to the first year Guarantee Scholars, the UNCG Guarantee Program is currently seeking 5-7 Guarantee Cohort Captains to serve as peer mentors to new first-year Guarantee Scholars in 2017-2018.
Job Description
The Guarantee Cohort Captain is intended to provide support and role modeling to new incoming Guarantee Scholars as they transition from high school to college. The Cohort Captain will be utilized to build community and encourage engagement within the Guarantee Program. Additionally, the Cohort Captains will be seen as a representative of the Guarantee Program as a member of the staff. The Guarantee Cohort Captain will serve as a peer mentor to a group of approximately 5-7 new Guarantee Scholars over the course of one year.
Responsibilities include:
Conduct monthly one on one meeting with each assigned scholar
Conduct at least one group meeting with assigned scholars each semester following the Fall and Spring Leadership Retreats
Attend each monthly Cohort Captain Meeting
Promote the Guarantee Program through the use of our social media accounts, this includes:
Working with fellow Cohort Captains to run the incoming cohorts Facebook page and actively take over the social media accounts for the duration of the summer
Bulletin board maintenance rotation
Attend and actively participate in the following events:
UNCG Guarantee Welcome Program- August
First Year Fall and Spring Leadership Retreat in Blowing Rock, NC- Oct/Sept, Jan/Fib
UNCG Guarantee Winter Social- December
Graduation Brunch Event- May
